Image Upload Issue

Can't Upload Listing Images in Listing Editor.

On some server configurations it is necessary to change folder permissions in order to have files and images uploaded to the WPRealty plugin.  This article covers four steps that must be followed in order to fix your specific configuration.

Step 1

With your FTP or SSH Shell Program, select the following folders and CHMOD them to 777

/wp-content/plugins/wp-realty/include/
/wp-content/plugins/wp-realty/images/
/wp-content/plugins/wp-realty/images/listing_photos/
/wp-content/plugins/wp-realty/images/user_photos/
/wp-content/plugins/wp-realty/images/vtour_photos/
/wp-content/plugins/wp-realty/files/listings/
/wp-content/plugins/wp-realty/files/users/

Modify the following fields in order to get the best results. Please pay attention to the parenthetical notes below.

Step 2 Change Image Upload Settings

Navigate to the plugins configuration panel and select the tab for the images.

JPEG Quality (Anything below this rapidly depreciates the quality of the images in some situations.
Resize Image (We suggest you keep this to resize images especially if you or your client use a digital camera and do not edit images prior to upload.)
Resize by: (We suggest width because the aspect ratio of most scripts and image editors use this by default. Images should be the 4:3 aspect ratio.)

Step 3 Change Image Upload Limits

While in this section, scroll down to the section titled Image Upload Limits. You want to keep the numbers for upload consistent with the size of the images you intend to upload. It is important to note that this will not preserve the actual image sizes if you selected "Reside Image" above and set it to "YES". By setting the numbers in this area to larger numbers you can upload larger files for resizing. A typical image from a digital camera can be in excess of 1200 pixels wide and be more than 50,000 bytes. The current settings will not accommodate a photo of that size so you must change the settings accordingly. See our example configuration below.

Max # of images per listing: Max # of pics for a given listing
Max File Size: Max File Size in bytes for listing images.
Max Image Width: Maximum image width for listing images
Max Image height: Maximum image height for listing images
Max # of images per user: Max # of pics for a given user.
Max File Size: Max File Size in bytes for user images.
Max File Width: Maximum image width for user images.
Max File height: Maximum image height for user images.
Max # of virtual tours per listing: Max # of virtual tours for a given listing
Max File Size: Max File Size in bytes for virtual tour images.
Max Image Width: Maximum image width for virtual tour images

Step 4 Change Image Display Settings

After images upload and are processed the size of those images will be displayed based on settings you preset in this section. We recommend that your settings follow something close to this. Since most websites have a content area of about 500 - 650 px wide it is recommended you keep the main image display width consisten with your sites structure.

Main Image Display by: How to display the Main Image called with the main image or main image java tags?
Main Image width: Main Image display width.
Main Image height: Main Image display height.
Number of Columns: The number of columns to use on the Java Listing Images by Rows template Tag before starting a new row.
