One of the sites I am going to use for WP Realty will not need any of the classes and few of the fields that come with WP realty plugin. I am focusing strictly on Rental properties. Are there any considerations I need to account for before I delete the current classes or fields I don't have any use for.
Or is it better to leave the existing classes and fields alone an only add the ones I am going to use.
I have to many horror stories from the past that involve the word "delete".
Thanks

As a suggestion to programmers concerning property classes, it would be great if when I click "MODIFY" on property classes that I could see all the fields that were originally selected to be included in that property class.

To be more specific, when I added a property class, I was able to select the fields that I'd like to have available when working on a listing in that property class.

But when I tried to EDIT or MODIFY one of the property classes such as LAND, so that none of the "residential type" fields will show, all I see is the label for that property class.

This occurs even when there are zero listings under that property class. I went back to the new property class I had just added called "Waterfront" and none of the fields that were available to select from when adding the class, were visible.

I'm sure the answer would be that once you get going on your database, its too dangerous to allow people to modify the fields available, as might exist when modifying a class in any type of database.

But down the road, it would be handy to be able to disable all the residential fields when dealing with bare land.

Its a minor point, but one that I think is worthy of consideration in the future.

BK, I would personally feel comfortable deleting the other classes you won't be using, as long as none of your current listings are making use of those property classes. MIght be worth sending a private message to chad, just to be sure, before you do it. But the safest way is to always leave those classes JUST IN CASE until you hear from the expert.

Seems like you could delete commercial, land, and ranches. The only one I think I"d be seriously concerned with deleting would be the residential, until you speak with chad or jared.

I'm a neat nik in that way too, where ultimately I want to clean things up and get rid of the stuff I'm not using.

Delete whats not used or wanted in the class types -

When creating a new class just select what you want or dont want -

Then you never need to click on the modify there to modify any of the class fields but instead now you login to the other menu link called the menu link "Listing Template Editor" (fixing to be renamed to "Listing Template Fields" in the next release).

Also in the next release we have completely enhanced the "field sort" into a brand new drag and drop so that you can quickly arrange the fields layout on the listing details page...means that now you can all in one place drag something located in the top left down to the middle or bottom section.

This was done to make it much faster for people (like us) using the plugin with different MLS markets. We can now quickly dump in 150+ fields and just drag and drop them where they will look best on the listing details pages.

to wildwebwest point though I agree about the link called "modify" - it should be called "modify class name" or it should open all of the fields names within that class to be edited....and it is something that will be concidered for a future upgrade.

With some recent use and abuse of wprealty, I've found that all default property classes appear again each time there is an upgrade, to Chads chagrin. I'm not convinced its worth the time to delete the different classes each time if they keep popping up like Wordpress Hello Dolly and Akismet plugins. I can live with this.

However....

One other item I would definitely love to stop populating after each wprealty plugin upgrade is the Washington Sample listing. This listing is not desired after the initial install and tour of wprealty. What can you guys do about putting this on a wish list for us loyal followers?
